Needs x UN Women present HeForShe
"Needs is a London based record label and events initiative that uses music as a medium to spread love, unity and the idea of giving back. "
Ash is proud to be supporting our friends Needs (not-for-profit) on their next upcoming event. Needs founder, party-starter and general loving soul Bobby Pleasure (definitely a feminist) announced this week that the organisation will partner with UN Women on their HeForShe arts week to bring a day of engaging panel discussions, networking and DJ and live performances.
Needs is a London based record label and events initiative that uses music as a medium to spread love, unity and the idea of giving back. Each event supports a different charity and is accompanied with a release on vinyl, acting as a support stream to various issues within society such as mental health, homelessness and equality.
Taking place on March 11 at London’s cultural hub Oval Space, in association with shesaidso, Resident Advisor and AIM, the event invites music industry luminaries to explore the challenging topic of gender equality. Tickets are on sale now, priced at £10, with all proceeds going to UN Women. The program for the day will be announced in due course and naturally, a party of pretty epic proportions will round-off proceedings.
UN Women was launched in 2015 by UN secretary general Ban Ki-moon and UN Women’s Global Ambassador Emma Watson, with the aim of engaging men and boys in conversations about feminism, encouraging the entire population to take action for equality now.
HeForShe is a global campaign that takes place annually from International Women’s Day on 8th March until 15th March. In 2017 HeForShe held over 40 events from lighting the London Eye with Gillian Andersen and Jennifer Nadal to events at famous theatres and venues including The Roundhouse, The British Museum and The Wallace Collection, amongst others.
We look forward to seeing the full program.
